submit to issue 05: fantasy
Fantasy is Dreamworldgirl Zine’s Issue 05 theme! This summer we are looking to explore the intersection between fantasy and girlhood, the magic of childhood and how attainable all of our dreams felt as kids. Without the burdens of societal parameters, expectations and negative stereotypes, our imaginations were once free to flourish, and DWG is devoted to carving out a new space for play.
It’s true what they say:“ the end” is just the beginning. So, re-discover your inner princess (or prince), bring your fantasies to life and create your very own dream world! We encourage everyone submitting to share your biggest, wildest dreams and aspirations with us. Whether it be a reimagined queer fairytale, magical girl cosplay, true love’s kiss, or personal essay about building community and finding utopia, our team wants to know how you make your dreams come true. Now is the time to become anything and everything your heart desires!
HOW TO SUBMIT
Submitting to Dreamworldgirl Zine is super easy! You can send illustrations, paintings and sketches, prose and poetry, playlists, photography, collages, musings, rants & more!!
Please send your name and submission(s) to submissions@dreamworldgirlzine.com! Our only guidelines are that you:
Send no more than THREE submissions. A curated photo series counts as one submission. A poetry collection does not. Please contact us via EMAIL if you have questions about what counts as one singular submission.
Keep prose and poetry submissions under 1,500 words!
Please double check and make sure we can access your submission before sending it off! Google Docs is preferred for written work but not required <3
FaQS
Q1: Can I submit something that isn’t on theme?
A: Sure, but we will prioritize fantasy-themed submissions and highly encourage sticking with the theme to ensure your best chance at publication.
Q2: Can I submit even if I’m nonbinary or don’t identify as a girl?
A: Genderqueer baddies and trans dreamers are welcome here! Cis straight men? Not so much...
Q3: When will I hear back?
A: By late June!
