submissions for issue 04: OBSESSION are open!
Obsession is Dreamworldgirl Zine’s Issue 04 theme! This winter we are looking to explore the insatiable craving that is obsession: the beautiful, the ugly, and the inescapable. Throughout our girlhood we develop obsessions for many reasons. Sometimes it’s to cope with intense feelings or trauma, and sometimes it’s to try and better understand who we are, a concept known as exploring oneself through the other.
Obsession as an issue challenges readers to look into the all-consuming parts of our identities, the profound passions we pursue, and the fixations that fuel all of us. In the public psyche “girl culture” obsessions are largely dismissed, invalidated or trivialized, but that won’t happen here. Whether you’re obsessed with social media, pop culture, romance, fame, or your best friend, there is a space in Issue 04 for you. Send us your addictive poetry, your rabbit hole essays, your ritualistic art and power-hungry musings: we want to see it! After all, all the best people are crazy.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Please send all submissions to submissions@dreamworldgirlzine.com, and make sure to include your name!
Guidelines —
★ Send no more than THREE submissions. A photo series can count as one submission. A poetry collection cannot.
★ Keep prose and poetry submissions under 1,000 words.
★ Author/artist bios are not required; cover letters aren’t required either.
★ Written work must be sent via Google Docs. For other submissions any format works, just make sure we’ll be able to access it.
★ Deadline: December 11th @ 11:59 PM EST

Q: Is there an age limit?
A: No!
Q: Do submissions have to be on theme?
A: Technically no, but submissions that are on theme are very much so preferred and prioritized.
Q: When will I hear back?
A: On December 20th!
