submissions for issue 06: Cyberia are open
INTRODUCING CYBERIA!
Cyberia is Dreamworldgirl Zine’s Issue 06 theme! The word Cyberia is a slang term for cyberspace, which combines the prefix“ cyber-” with the region of“ Siberia” in order to describe the sheer vastness of the internet. This winter, we are looking to explore the matrix that is girlhood, and all of the emotional sanctuaries, digital bedrooms and hyperreal playgrounds we know, love, hate, and have yet to discover. Many of us have constructed unique on-screen identities for ourselves, and the Cyberia issue aims to unpack and deconstruct them.
We encourage everyone submitting to traverse this hyper-connected tundra and examine what it means to grow up, seek refuge, or lose oneself online. Whether you’ve fallen victim to late-night doomscrooling, are desperate to preserve forgotten corners of the early web, or all about cyberfeminism and imagining a radical future, there is space in Issue 06 for you. Send us your virtual avatars, deep dives into gamer subcultures, online archives, pixel art, and interviews with digital creators. Send it all!
