We Are ALL Falling for Clara Kay’s “Long Con”

With her latest single,“ Long Con”, Clara Kay“ rips the cover off a relationship built on mixed signals, mind games, and manufactured devotion.”

The song starts strong with punchy guitar riffs and a hook worth head banging to. The lyrics are raw, vulnerable, and so catchy that I almost forget the relationship trauma that makes this song soooo relatable. It’s a splash of cold water shaking you out of your limerence fueled stupor and the pick-me-up that keeps you going through all the bullshit. This is a single for everyone left looking over their shoulder in this crummy dating scene. Being vulnerable is TERRIFYING and this song perfectly captures the feelings of doubt, anxiety, and paranoia that come with dating after having experienced all of the highs and lows.

So many of us have been strung along, ghosted, and conned and we are desperate not to repeat history. Having been burned before, Clara Kay approaches the tell tale signs of manipulation with a forceful self assurance that feels like armor. As much as the lyrics reveal the soft underbelly of her inner turmoil, the tone of the song is not cowering; rather, it demands answers.

“Having been burned before, Clara Kay approaches the tell tale signs of manipulation with a forceful self assurance that feels like armor.”

“ Long Con” will be the anthem for everyone who doesn’t escape cuffing season unscathed. I can see this song being the final straw that shakes some of you by the shoulders and makes you realize that situationship has been stringing you along and enough is enough. It will also be the jam that soundtracks your next era and helps you resist being fooled again.

Clara Kay’s love for words is reflected in her unabashed lyricism. She’s a songwriter whose words are worth losing (and finding) yourself in.
