Bijou Octavia is the interdisciplinary genius behind“ the blue girl trapped home”, which was filmed, written, edited and composed in four days.“ the blue girl trapped home” deviates from convention, and this particular narrative is inspired and based on taboo feelings, mental states and dysfunction. Themes indulge in the unsettled and pained girl, who depicts having lack of control, and repetitive thought patterns that she takes in from external influences, blend with her internal monologue.
Provoking themes of agonizing desperation is further illustrated by the incorporation of the FAERYS creature Bijou created called“ bleuys.” Bleuys are delicate, long and thin creatures with swirls as eyes, always shown holding a smile. They were part of Bijou’s“ get my heart back” fashion collection, where they were constantly making grave and failed efforts to retrieve their heart. This symbolism reflects one of the themes in“ the blue girl trapped home”, for the girl doesn’t realize her constant chase to get/retrieve something is the one thing hurting her the most.
Bijou’s sister, Coco, was the cinematographer for the film and has been known to take photos for Bijou’s graphic design, art and photoshoot ideas. All of the other positions, from director to costume designer, and digital animator to starring role, were filled by Bijou herself, whose multihyphenate creativity at just 18 years old is a testament to her talent.
