our advice for college freshmen

Many of our readers are embarking on a brand new journey for the first time: college. All of our staff members have been there before, so here’s some of our most heartfelt advice on how to have an amazing first year!
- This is the time to discover who you are. Try new things and don’t be discouraged by rejection, you’ll never know if you never try :) - Gianna
- Put yourself out there, strangers are just people you haven’t befriended yet!! Everyone is so nervous so you aren’t alone! - Campbell
- Everyone goes at their own pace, so don’t compare your progress to others. The fact that you are in college in the first place is already a huge accomplishment. - Dana
- Prioritize your sleep! You will never be the best version of yourself after an all nighter; stuff comes up, but chronic sleep deprivation is no joke. Sleep is so important for your mental and physical health! - Norah
- Find something to look forward to each week! Make it a goal to explore new things with new people and find your new fav spots on and off campus. - Sara
- It is a great time for self-discovery and figuring out what you want or the person you want to be! I wish I knew this going into college but really going at your own pace helps you discover/explore new things, and it helps you grow along the way! - Becca
- Apply to work with or model for Dreamworldgirl Zine (especially if you are Boston or LA-based)! This is a chance to meet like-minded people your age outside of school; it gets you out of your college bubble and into the local creative community. Trust me when I say the networking you do at our magazine is invaluable, and an internship doesn’t look too bad on that resume either ;) - Daphne
